Bay de Noc Trail 40 Mile Thru Hike, Upper Peninsula Michigan
I took advantage of the 3-day holiday weekend to hike this old Native American portage route from Rapid River to south of Au Train/Munising area. It roughly follows the portage route used to cross the UP from Lake Michigan to Lake Superior.
The fall colors were popping and the hiking weather was perfect.
Day 1: 20 miles

Grand Island, Michigan Backpacking
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Рік тому
I had a great time hiking around Grand Island. I spent the first night at the Gull Point campsite. The next night I backcountry camped on the east side. I also found an old homestead, logging camp, or who knows what! And the first day I put out a wildfire just minutes after arriving, likely caused by someone camping and burning illegally right off the trail. The wind was intense but it made for...

Summer Camping Michigan - Packrafting & Swimming

Just a relaxing, do-nothing trip on a small lake with some swimming and packrafting. No people, not many bugs and some great weather. Plus a little flashback of how I broke my fibula during the winter. (I had to re-upload this one to adjust the volume)

More winter hot tent hammock camping! I had a great time out in the snow and pines as well as some really nice warm sitting time in the Smokehouse Outfitter. This trip served up some nice wintry weather, decent firewood and tasty food.
Hot Tent Winter Camping in Northern Michigan -19° Low

This was a fun, COLD winter camping trip. It finally got well below zero and I really enjoyed the light, dry snow before the warmup. The Smokehouse Outfitter stayed toasty warm, almost too warm on occasion. Hopefully not too much talking for TaMoose101, but I know he'll still give the usual thumbs down 🤣 Night 1: -18°F Night 2: -19°F Night 3: 1°F Night 4: 20° and rising thru the morning
Hot Tent Winter Camping - Huron National Forest, Michigan

Hot tent hammock time! I recently spent another 4 days up north, this time in the Huron National Forest of Michigan. I was joined by two friends for most of the trip enjoying good food and company in the frigid piney woods. The DIY stainless steel sink stove inside the hot tent is still incredible!! I was toasty warm and comfortable the entire time.

Some of the same ol' stuff but I was anxious to get the new DIY sink stove out for a real test. I'm pleased to say it worked out better than expected! It put off a nice amount of heat all night with only one stoke required. Great weather and company in the piney woods! Update: The window is in! ua-cam.com/video/64wmLSdoylo/v-deo.html Pack it all for hot tent camping, including the kitchen sink! I just finished making a hot tent stove from a stainless steel bar sink. It worked out really well. Now I just need to add the glass window and it will be complete. This larger stove will surely heat my hammock hot tent a lot quicker! I was worried about the sound damp...
Best Backpacking Alcohol Stove Fuel?
Переглядів 5022 роки тому
This is a comparison of the three main fuels used in alcohol stoves. HEET, denatured alcohol and Everclear grain alcohol all work fine with similar relative boil times in my 'Fancee Feest' stove. None of these fuels left any soot on the bottom of my Toaks titanium pot. If you're just heating up water for something like instant coffee, try using 10ml (1/3oz) of fuel for 8oz of water unless you w...

This was the first trip out with the Smokehouse for Winter 2021. I stayed cozy and warm in wind and light snow but there were some peeks of sun. I got to test my new stove jack location on the wall. I will now sew a patch over the existing roof jack since I don't plan on using that again. The Pomoly T1 Flame Stove did well with some oak, maple and cherry cut on-site. Later in the video I talk s...

Super appreciate this as I was totally confused and ended up getting a monthly subscription. Prepaid for a bit yet, however will figure out how to get off that as I am tired of all the monthly paymts like you mentioned plus would like to add another camera or two. Thank you sir!

I don't have a hub, I only have 1 blink doorbell camera (the long skinny one) I can see my videos as motion detected as people walk by. Can I not watch those anymore once my free trial ends? Since I don't have a cloud hub or whatever.

I’m really disappointed. I went looking for how to put the window in, and you had another video that said you were adding a video, but was nothing but burning. But there was something to say to come watch you do your build in this video. The window never got added in on this one either.

This brought back memories of my Dad and I doing almost the same thing on the Au Sable. We did it every year, took us about a week. He's long gone and I'm a senior citizen now. Thank you for this video from the bottom of my heart. The entire time I watched it I was 60 years younger.

Hey Nice video. I have a different tent than you. Mine is the Tigris Hammock tent . I like your idea about the side vent for the stovepipe. Mine goes straight thru the top but also has provisions for a side stove jack. I too wondered about rain coming down thru the opening and splashing on the stove. I especially like the flap that goes over the top to deflect water. Where your pipe goes thru the sidewall its best to use something called Lava tape to go around the pipe. That will prevent any burns to the stovejack or tent material. To be clear you need to purchase a spark arrestor so you wont put holes in your tent from the embers. For fuel I use the Enviro -Logs . They are compressed wax cardboard . They burn hot and last for hours so no more wasted time cutting and splitting wood. Also you will not have to stoke your stove so often thru the night to stay warm. You are close enough to your car so that could work. Like you I started with a kids snow sled then graduated to an official Pulk sled made by Mountainsmith. Its got a chest harness and tows well over snow. Hope this helps.

Nice video-- I am thinking about doing the Maumee in its entirety also... maybe in sections just due to other kayak camp trips I have planned but def. want to do all of the Maumee... If you come back down it you'll see one big change. The grain elevators as you close in on Toledo now are painted with the Largest Mural in the country... it covers the whole river side of the structures... very cool to see and enourmous

That concrete pad in the front left of you on shore was the reason for crossing the bridge. We would have fires there and fish from time to time. Lot's of crazy memories on that bridge.

  • @Meglenger
    @Meglenger 3 місяці тому

@50:31 my father and I would walk those tracks with our black lab Cyclone a very large and mean dog I might add lol. On the right side shore there is a hill that comes down to the river and we would often build fires on the concrete pad there. My dad would go up on that bridge and call our dog up to him, pick him up facing towards the shore and drop him off that bridge lol. The splash was so big it would hit him in the face sometimes 😂 after about the 3rd time the dog wouldn't come to him anymore he just stood there looking at him. My dad loved that dog and obviously that short drop didn't hurt him but he lived the dream dog life! Hunting, swimming and even thrown off a bridge from time to time. My dad told me one time he got caught in the middle trying to cross there between 2 trains. Only about 3 feet on either side of you, I bet it was a freaky feeling!

That's how I mounted my glass. I actually used 4 mirror brackets (to mount a mirror on a wall) and just bolted it thru the door. That was 10 years ago and it still works fine.

This is a USELESS video and a complete waste of time to watch. You begin by talking about using the USB mem stick and then completely go off in a different direction. My wife was looking for videos on HOW TO set it up etc. for her sister; and this is MOST certainly NOT it. PLEASE STOP! Get some HELP. People do NOT need useless vids, they need tutorials, etc. Me? Well I do NOT use BLINK anymore as I found them to be a PITA, not to set up as a system, but it took MANY MONTHS to get AMAZON/BLINK to straighten out their BLINK YEAR LONG subscription plan. I sold the system and moved on to a far better E**Y system sold on amazon and never looked back. No subscription fees and storage was almost infinite depending on SSD capacity. And to the i***t who said that this was the best video he's ever seen on BLINK, well, everyone is welcome to their opinion; it just doesn't coincide with reality.

I have two blink outdoor cameras, and a blink doorbell camera. I have the $10 subscription, I like it, one of the big things I don't like about not having the subscription is that if you have a lot of clips, it doesn't let you select them all at once and delete, you have to go one by one and delete each clip

The abandon bridge at Scipio Road is very dear to me. I’ve lived here my whole life and I started going back there in 1976 before it started getting overgrown as it was tore down in the early 70s. I know a lot of history about the bridge and that area in particular, if you have any interest.
